First introduced in 1984, the Dickens Village series from Department 56 has been a favorite of collectors and lovers of Christmas ever since.

The hustle and bustle of Victorian England is brought to life as inspired by the classic literary works of Charles Dickens. The hearty and joyous holiday atmosphere appears as if by magic from the pages of Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, David Copperfield, and A Christmas Carol.

The carefully sculpted details of the Crooked Fence cottage, the Butter Tub Barn, the Olde Camden Town Church, and landmark buildings such as Big Ben and Manchester Square, will make you feel as though you’ve been transported back in time. Some of the buildings are taken directly from the pages of Dickens, such as the Christmas Carol cottage, the Flat of Ebeneezer Scrooge, and Satis Manor (from Great Expectations).

In addition to the more than 30 lighted porcelain buildings included in the current collection, the Dickens Village series also includes a wide variety of accessories that will complete your village’s transformation back into a by-gone era.

The accessories also include pieces taken directly from the pages of Dickens, such as the Christmas Carol Spirits of Christmas, Bob Cratchit and his family, and the Fezziwig Delivery Wagon, to the many everyday people going about their daily routines. The children at play, a gingerbread vendor, and another vendor selling Christmas Pudding, all add to the charm and realism of this unique collection. The Dickens Village Series has remained popular since its introduction and was the first series of the Heritage Collection of Villages.

The Dickens Village series is a charming way to create memories, by capturing the joy and spirit of Victorian England.
